2012 Theme:  Train to Win!

            Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize?  Run in such a way that you may obtain it.  And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things.  Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.  Therefore I run thus not with uncertainty.  Thus I fight not as one who beats the air.  But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection least when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.  (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)   

Sunday Church School (SCS) is an essential part of providing the spiritual training necessary to prepare students to run this race of faith with endurance.  As we serve for the Lord in the ministry of Calling·Reclaiming·Edifying let’s keep our eyes on the prize and train to win!

SCS Classes and Team:

Invite someone to Sunday Church School. We teach the Word!  There is a class for everyone and space to start new classes.   The class locations and 2012 SCS Team are listed under the Christian Ed. drop down box. 

Team Reminders:

Black History all year long.  Our SCS curriculum Urban Ministries, Inc. (UMI) includes information on three Black History Personalities each month.  The posters are located in various classrooms.  Teachers, please remember to share this Black History each month. 

SCS Quarterly Books:

Don’t forget to let Superintendent James know if the number of books needed for your class has changed.  We want to be good stewards in the quantity of books ordered. So, don’t get caught with unused books at the end of the quarter, spread the Word throughout the quarter.  During the holidays we gave books to members in a nursing home and we gave books to college students who were home for Christmas break.   The Married Couples’ class has a Sunday School book set aside for guests.  It is the expectation of the class that someone will visit, so they have a book ready. 

No SCS on the 4th Sunday: We will have one service at 10:00 a.m. for Pastor's Appreciation.

Team in Action:

SCS Home Visits.  Having SCS (at 9:30 a.m.) in the home of our Sick and Shut in has been a blessing to the teachers and to the sick and shut in.  We hope to visit a home each month.  This month the Men’s class is scheduled to go and have SCS in the home of a brother who has been unable to attend class.  Remember while one teacher and a few students visit the home another teacher facilitates class on campus.    

Church Development Regional Training:  Save the Date.  We have been asked, once again, to host the Church Development Regional Training Conference on Saturday, April 28 at 8:00 a.m.  What a blessing!

Share the Plan of Salvation Praise God for those of you who make an effort to share the Plan of Salvation each week. The more students hear teachers share the Plan of Salvation the more confident students become in sharing their faith. The classroom for students age 30-50 also serves as the Evangelism/Outreach Room.  This room is equipped with a variety of bookmarks/brochures on sharing your faith.  Students may be a little more comfortable using these tools until they become proficient in sharing their faith with their Bible.
